Gatineau, February 14, 2009 – The lovely weather was with us for this first day of competition. The only thing skiers were missing was the starting signal before throwing themselves on the trails of Gatineau Park.

UPDATE – FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 13

COURSE CHANGE

The technical committee has decided to go with contingency courses for the 16 km, 29 km and 53 km races on Saturday and Sunday. These new courses will essentially follow the Promenades to ensure the safety of skiers.

There will not be any changes to the 5 km, 10 km and Mini-Gazifère courses.

The trail conditions are fast, ranging from very good to excellent, and the snow will be transformed granular. The sunny weather will be perfect for the event!

The registration booth will open on Friday, starting at 5:30 p.m. in the Ski Show Salon, at Mont-Bleu High School(389 boulevard Cité-des-Jeunes, Gatineau), and will be open all weekend for your convenience.

The 31st edition of the Gatineau Loppet, which will take place from February 13 to 15, 2009, will be sure to delight just about everyone! The routes, made to measure for beginner, intermediate and expert skiers, attract families and athletes looking for something to do outdoors, as well as the world’s elite, which include its most daring competitors.

Every year, Canada’s biggest cross-country ski event welcomes nearly 3,000 skiers and supporters in Gatineau Park.

A true Canadian natural heritage site, Gatineau Park is an ideal site for cross-country skiers. Its approximately 200 km of trails offer participants some astounding panoramic views.

In short, everyone who loves cross-country skiing and the outdoors is expected in Gatineau Park for the 31st Gatineau Loppet.
