The Gatineau Loppet Junior
The Gatineau Loppet Junior is a new activity organized just for high school students. It will take place in Gatineau Park, and give them a chance to practice an outdoor activity linked to international discoveries!
Participants will get to ski a 5 or 10 km trail while discovering Gatineau Park and taking part in a major event in their region, and engaging in an athletic and healthy activity!
Sunday, February 15 – Freestyle: 10 km – start time: 1:00 p.m.
There will be a separate wave for Gatineau Loppet Junior participants at the 5 km classic on Saturday and another at the 10 km freestyle on Sunday. There will also be a gathering place where students and other participants will get a chance to chat.
Everyone will get an after-race meal, a competitor number identifying the race in which they took part and a chip that will record their official time.
In addition, the Gatineau Loppet will donate 10% of the registration fees collected to the schools, which will be able to use the money for student activities.
This will be a terrific opportunity to go skiing in an outstanding setting, and to meet skiers visiting Gatineau from 20 different countries.

How it works
The concept is essentially based on participation, and will take into account the number of kilometres skied by the students of each school. A final ranking will be set based on the group results. Registration
The teacher in charge at each school will be responsible for registering its students.- Skiers from a given school who register on their own will deprive their school of their 10%.
- Participants must fill out a registration form and hand it to the teacher in charge at their school.
- The administration fees are the same as for an online registrations.
- The schools are responsible for checking and validating their forms.
- School registrations will close on January 26, 2009.
